Head of Department’s Message




Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh

Management Department of FEB UMY develops in pace with the fast development of UMY, and it has made abundant achievements throughout the 36 years of its journey as an entity of higher education. Management Department was established on 24th Rabi-Ul-Akhir 1401 H, or on 1st Mrch 1981. Thanks God, based on the Decree of the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education No.222/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-XVI/5/XI/2013, Management Department has been accredited A (very good). In addition, in 2018 the department will propose re-accreditation  with the spirit to maintain A accreditation. The acquisition of A accreditation in university level (Accreditation of Higher Education Institution)  in early 2018 has become a tremendous boost and excitement  for Management Department to keep on improving.

Management Department prepares its graduates to have excellent managership and entrepreneurship equipped with faith, taqwa (God-consciousness), science, and technology. To realize its vision, Management Department of FEB UMY has employed teaching staff who are competent as academicians and practitioners. Since 2010/2011, Management Department has applied competence-based curriculum with student-centered learning approach in which softskills are included. In addition, since 2015 Management Department has applied Higher Education Curriculum-Indonesian Qualifications Framework. Therefore, it is expected that graduates of Management Department not only have conceptual ability but also excellent skills such as communication, leadership, negotiation, self-confidence, and high motivation to get achievements.

Institutional cooperations in academic field with other universities and institutions both at home country and overseas continue to increase. Various efforts have been and will be done in order to realize the desire to go international, one of them is by opening an international program called IMaBs (International Program of Management and Business) in 2017 and other supporting activities such as students and  academic staff exchange, credit transfer, further study, visiting professor, joint research and publication, and other academic activities.
